3D打印是一个时髦的称呼,准确来说“增材生产技术”(Additive manufacturing AM )更能体现3D打印是一种层层叠加的生产过程。这项技术早在上世纪80年代就提出来了,因为缺少计算机和互联网技术的强力支持,该项技术发展缓慢,并且非常昂贵。

同时,政府投资需要与私人或商业投资相结合。 以英国2013年6月3日正式启动1470万英镑投资为例,Innovate UK 通过政府各个基金机构出资840万英镑, 公司或者私人投资630万英镑。其目的是协助企业通过3D打印技术解决生产过程问题,比如,医疗健康和能源技术方面。
这笔投入的效果调查报告也于2016年2月完成。如下图所示:
